A moment to share...

I'd like to take a moment to share with my closest family and friends about some of the things that I love (and hate) about being pregnant.

Now, I was warned in early pregnancy about how annoying it was to have random people touching a pregnant belly - but that hasn't made it onto my list. The only random belly rubs that I have received have been from co-workers, which while a bit more intimate than I would expect, wasn't from anyone oddly inappropriate. Now, onto my list...

Things I love:
  • Baby kicks, junior dance moves and in utero gymnastics
  • Strangers smiling at the sight of my belly
  • Looking pregnant, instead of just looking fat
  • Stretch panel pregnancy pants
  • Craving good-for-me food (Boy, did I luck out)
  • Feeling happy and healthy
  • Prenatal Yoga
  • The bagel shop that sells bialys across the street from the yoga studio
  • Having friends with babies, lots of friends with babies
  • Bonding with acquaintances about the jointed experience of baking a baby
  • Tiny little baby clothes

Things I don't love:
  • People asking if I'm excited. Does any one answer that question "No - not really."
  • People telling me that I look ready to pop - Uh, actually, I still have 2+ months to go, but thanks.
  • Upon hearing that I still have 2+ months to go, the same people following up with "Are you having twins?" - No, there's just one in there, but again, thanks.
  • Upon hearing that I'm not having twins, people replying "Are you sure?" - Yep, pretty sure, thanks for thinking you know more about my pregnancy than either me or my obstetrician. (I can't tell you how many times that exchange has happened already… it started when I was a round 4 months, and is only getting worse as I get further/bigger. I never had to say it, but I'm actually THANKFUL when people stop after the "ready to pop" comment.
  • Not being able to roll over in bed, then pulling random stomach muscles trying to get out of bed.
  • Zits in random places
  • Being tired/cranky/achy, sometimes in rotation, sometimes all at once
  • Walking up stairs with 30 extra lbs. it's like a backpack filled with rocks that you can't take off. My knees aren't thankful.
29 Weeks starts tomorrow. 11 weeks to go.
